2022 CHABLIS GRAND CRU
APPELLATION:
Located in the northwest corner of the Grand Cru slope, Bougros has a remarkable southeast exposure and the steepest slope of all. DMM's holdings lie on the favorable top of the slope, adjacent to Preuses. Historically, Bouque-eau - a patois term - corresponds to the site's history as a reliable river crossing in medieval times.
TASTING NOTES:
Sourced from a parcel with vines ranging from 15 to 65 years old, the Bougros Cru provides optimal sun exposure and excellent drainage, leading to powerful yet elegant wines. Effusively honeyed and spicy on the nose, the vineyard's pedigree is unmistakable. Full - bodied, rich, and complex, with a succulent, generously exotic character to the dried tropical fruit and lime flavors. Complexity is bolstered by barrel-derived flavors of butterscotch, caramel, and hazelnut. While delicious now, this wine will reward patience with an additional 5-10 years of bottle age, when subtleties will emerge as the brash, youthful character begins to mellow. A stunning expression of a world-class site.
