ABOUT DOMAINE MICKAËL MOTHE
Domaine Mickaël Mothe is a family-owned estate that has been handed down from generation to generation. The family vineyard (17 hectares) is exclusively planted with Chardonnay and produces dry, crystal clear, lively and light white wines, characterized by a yellow color with subtle white/green reflections.
The winegrowing region covers the hillsides running alongside the Serein valley. This is a hilly region, with wooded hilltops. The vineyard stretches over around 20 villages. The lime-clay soils were formed in the Jurassic era and the Kimmeridgean layer is predominant. The wines of Chablis are made from a single varietal: Chardonnay, the only one allowed for this white wine. Chablis’ vineyards are famous all around the world and have been for many years synonymous with great dry white wine. The wines of the Chablis region sub-divide into four levels of appellation: Petit Chablis, Chablis, Chablis Premier Cru, Chablis Grand Cru.
